Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Greetings again, Bern." Nightbringer's greeting is polite and nice enough, but is underlined with a cold tone. Apparently, she still suspects Bern. Riki's greeting from across the cafe is much warmer, however-and louder.

"Hey! Bern! Was wondering if you'd show your stony ol' face again! Nice to see ya back!"

Bern 09-14-2004 07:31 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Bern sits down and leans back.

Dom bops Night on the head while she wasn't looking and looks away to look like he was innocent. "So Bern where were ya eh?"

Pax lets out another lazy yan and, licking his lips, begins stretching his extremities as far as he can manage. "Ergh, mornin'," he mumbles in that mellifluous voice of his, rubbing at his amber eyes vigorously until he can consider himself 'awake'.

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Tor makes a fairly non-commital wave towards the newcomer before turning back to Riki

The curse is that it compels it's wielder to live on eternal battlefields unto death. Which is why I don't know if it'd affect you while he's still 'alive'. And heavy? Compared to a battle axe? It's one of the finest swords ever crafted (provided you ignore the curse and the whole energy draining thing), some people say that the Masamune is better, it's certainly more safe to use, but the Murasame is sharper and lighter. And that's what really matters. And I'm rambling again.

Who's the new guy?

Bern 09-15-2004 02:01 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"I've been in the castle everyone is supposedly talking about." Bern stands and turns into his human form and then sits back down. "Thats better."

"What were you doing there eh? And hows the castle?" Dom watches Bern transform and sit.

Wolf 09-15-2004 02:11 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Night pushes Dominic and then stalks around the cafe, looking for something of interest.

Riki glances at Toryu.
"So you don't know where he is?"

Janus 09-15-2004 02:35 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

In a word, no. In a more generalised way of looking at it, he's taken to wandering around towns now, watching life go by. Shame really, given the nice countryside around here, but hey. Try some towns and cities to the south of here

He swills the water in the bottle around as if thinking about something, then abruptly stops and swigs it

In all fairness, Luck is probably your best friend if you're looking for him

Bern 09-16-2004 08:54 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"I was.....uh..... looking for a friend of mine. The castle? Its...... charming. What have you been up too?"

"I've been unconsious for a couple days, then when i woke up i spent the rest of the time trying to figure out what happened." He begins again to fiddle with Void.

Wolf 09-17-2004 08:18 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Night yawns and stares at Bern, her tail idly flicking back and forth. "Did you find all of your purposes at the castle?"

Riki shakes her head.
"Luck has little to do about anything. I need to find him."

Bern 09-18-2004 10:46 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

" You could say that, yes. Theres some interesting people living there." Bern rubs his sore eyes and looks at night.

"Is it worth going there? Were looking for something to do."

Wolf 09-18-2004 10:51 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"This whole country seems to be populated by 'interesting' people...and creatures." Night muses. She stares out the window. Her whole existence-she never termed her stay on this Earth as a life, since a life has a beginning with a mother-like creature, not a group of human scientists-she had been the weird thing, the monster, the failed experiment. Snarling softly under her breath, Nightbringer watches again the scene of her escape from the human's labortory. "I don't want to be a failed human experimentation anymore." The words, meant mostly to herself, carry over to Bern and Dominic. Getting up, suddenly feeling anti-social, she leaps onto the couch a little further away from the two.

Bern 09-18-2004 11:04 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"So that explains the wings..." Bern examines the black wings on the big cat

"Hey Night. How bout we go to the castle eh? Gives us something to do."

Wolf 09-18-2004 11:10 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Night nods her head breifly. "That's fine with me, Dominic. And yes, Bern, I have wings because I am not a true creature of Earth. I was not born of any creature walking this world, and when I die, there shall be no more abominations like me to walk this soil. I am a creature without purpose, a man-made soul. In all sense of the world, I am an alien." Seeming to be okay despite her heavy words, Night slides up next to the door and waits patiently for Dominic to finish his human rituals of saying good-bye.

Bern 09-18-2004 11:14 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"We'll see you later bern!" Dom shakes Bern's hand and walks off.

"The only abomination is not believing in yourself..... i found that out the hard way. Goodbye my friend." Bern turns and stares into the fire, looking like he is thinking about a horrid past.

Wolf 09-18-2004 11:18 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Riki wanders over and stares at Bern, guessing what he's thinking about. "You know, a bad childhood can do two things to a guy, basically. It can make you weak and helpless, or you can use your experiences to make you stronger. A lot of us haven't grown up in a cushioned, sheltered world. My own daughter..." She shakes her head and continues on. "We've used our past to make ourselves stronger. How have you used yours, Bern?"

Bern 09-18-2004 11:22 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Im confused Riki. I dont know what to do, make me stronger or make me helpless. Im trapped in between."

Wolf 09-18-2004 11:27 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"You're a fighter, Bern, are you not? You have a sword, so I'm guessing you are. Fact of the matter is, a single break in your shield, or a crack in your armor, and you're a dead man. Anything you have as a potential weakness you gotta make into a strength, or you're going to find that the lunitics around here are going to burrow their way into your heart and destroy you. You've got to be strong, not weak, and overcome your past. Use it to strengthen yourself, not weaken."

Bern 09-18-2004 11:36 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"I guess your right... If only i could find the people who killed my family.... then my heart would be lifted from the evil curse they put upon me!" Bern takes out his blade and examines it, the handle which was once green slowly turns red.

Wolf 09-18-2004 11:40 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Riki watches the handle turn color and sighs, her heart pitying Bern. "Wishing is never enough, my friend. Many people wished for many things...you have to get out there and make your wishes come true. In the mean time, use that grief to power your blows, knowing that each step you take will take you one step closer to your wish."

Bern 09-18-2004 11:45 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Your right! Im might even learn something new with this new stength! You are a true friend Riki. Thank you." Bern swings the blade in triumph and the blades handle truns a bright silver.

Wolf 09-18-2004 11:47 AM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Heh, no problem. I learned all that from a great friend myself." She smiles, treasuring the memories. "Anyway, fact of the matter is, you've probably got destiny wound up with those bastards who killed your kin. So just keep working for it, and you'll find them."

Bern 09-18-2004 12:01 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Yeah, you know i never even seen the people who did it! I think that was killing me the most."

Wolf 09-18-2004 12:06 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"You didn't see them? How could you not see them?" Riki's a little shocked.

Bern 09-18-2004 12:20 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"I was little, I woke up and smelled something burning.... Flesh.... I looked out the window and saw a black cloak a couple a feet from the window. Its head was looking toward the ground. I looked down and I saw...... My father. He was bloody and dying! My father saw me in the window and in his last breath he threw his sword towards me and said he loved me. Then the wretched vile snake took its sword and swung it at my father. He didn't have a chance! I took my father's sword and ran outside and tried to kill it. The last thing i saw was the cloak twirled around and sliced my face. I fell to the ground and went unconsious. It thought i was dead and left me be, they all left and left my town burning. That's how i got this scar on my eye." Bern points to the scar while he clenches his fist.

Wolf 09-18-2004 12:23 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"That's...terrible. I'm glad you got away. Don't worry, scum like that always shows up again sooner or later."

Bern 09-18-2004 12:36 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Yeah, the only clue i have is on the back of that cloak it had an orange mongoose. Hey how would you like to battle me, it will get us off this gloomy subject."

Wolf 09-18-2004 12:38 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Sure! I could use the exercise, and I'd love to test my new axe out." She grins and unsheathes Destiny.

Bern 09-18-2004 12:42 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"May i see?" Bern, hands the serpent blade out to Riki so she can examine it.

Wolf 09-18-2004 12:46 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Sure." One-handly, she gives the heavy poleaxe to Bern and takes the sword. "Wicked. Incrediably well made, the balance is perfect. How did your father get a hold of this?"

Bern 09-18-2004 12:54 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"He made it, the handle turns color to your mood and the blade itself is infused with the power of the shadows. Nice! Very nice axe! how did you get this? Damn! how did you get an axe as sharp as this? Never seen a well made axe before. Im so used to blades and .... guns, the wretched things!" He examines the axe and feels the blade, then swinging it in little circles.

Wolf 09-18-2004 01:03 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Bought it. I lost my first one, Bliss, a long time ago. Swords don't suit me very well. I didn't have enough money for a morning star, which is what I was really after, and was about to leave when I saw that beauty hanging on the wall. Didn't have enough for that, either, but I can be quite...persuasive." Her sarcastic tone gives no doubt about what had happened to the luckless store owner. "Called her Destiny, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet."

Bern 09-18-2004 01:10 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"I see, well we better get to the arena! Hey how bout we make this interesting. If you win you keep your axe and I make you a Morning Star, and if I win you hand over your axe and I still make you a Morning Star?" Bern hands over Rikis axe over.

Wolf 09-18-2004 01:12 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

She laughs. "Fair enough. I'll fight for Destiny and my morning star." With that, she winks at Bern and gives him back his sword, replacing Destiny on her back. "I'll see you there."

Bern 09-18-2004 01:15 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Right!" Bern walks toward the door and heads toward the arena.

Janus 09-18-2004 03:33 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

A short while after Riki and Bern leave, Tor finishes his drink and heads out after them. It's been a while since he's seen a fight, let alone be in one. That, and he wants to see Riki fight. he can't help but wonder what his counterpart sees in her.

Bern 09-18-2004 07:27 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Bern walks into the cafe with Riki, he was bloody and sore and slowl walked toward a couch. "That was a rough one, right Riki?"

Wolf 09-18-2004 07:30 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Aye...ow...Man, really pissed you off by taking your sword. I'll remember not to do that again." She carefully unhooks Destiny and hands it out to Bern. "Deal's a deal. Destiny is yours."

Bern 09-18-2004 07:34 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"Thank you my friend... don't worry ill make it worth your while! I'll get started on your weapon ASAP. After i rest though." Bern sits and relaxs.

Wolf 09-18-2004 07:36 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

Riki mutters under her breath and digs out another first aid kit, bandaging herself.

Bern 09-18-2004 07:40 PM

Re: Tri-Link's Cafe V

"That was an interesting last attack you did... with the lightning and all. Is that part of the axe or did you learn that?"
